Our road race team...

We are members of the Buccaneer Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Historic Sportscar Racing Club (HSR).  Our team competes at tracks throughout the Southeast U.S. such as Daytona, Sebring, Moroso, Charlotte, Road Atlanta and Roebling Road.

Road racing is the oldest form of motorsports in the U.S.  Events are run on asphalt tracks with a variety of left and right turns, and sometimes parts of the track have elevation changes.  Teams must prepare their cars to handle under hard braking for corners and for quick acceleration up to 200 mph on the straights.  Road races may even be held in the rain.  Needless to say, drivers require a high level of skill to find the quickest line around the track, while out-thinking and out-maneuvering their competitors.

In February, 2001 we ran The 24 Hours At Daytona race, finishing 4th in the AGT class.   What is the Rolex 24?

Tropic Zone Racing also has a drag race team.

Our son, Mark, runs his 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 in the NHRA Sportsman Class.  His friend, Casey Miller, runs a 1978 Chevy Nova in the Pro class.  Check out our Drag Racing page for more information.
